René van Nie: Kind van de Zon | DOCU

DOCUMENTARY

‘’I only used 70 percent of my capability’s. And that’s what I regret.’’
The opening words of retired Dutch filmmaker: René van Nie.
While drinking coffee at his favourite spot on the island of Aruba, he talks about his extravagant life and film career as a camera operator, writer, producer, director of more then 200 documentaries and 5 feature films. A blossoming career that suddenly stopped.
Together with family members and former colleagues René looks back at his life: the stubbornness, his unconventional youth, lust for life, women, money, and his mistakes which all together left an unmistakable stamp on Dutch cinema.
